Gun Salute in Commemoration of World War I Armistice Day

Blog

The Serbian Army Guard made an honorable gun salute by firing 10 volleys from six artillery guns at the Kalemegdan Sava Terrace, thereby commemorating the World War I Armistice Day as per the order of Aleksandar Vučić, President of Serbia and commander-in-chief of the Serbian Army.

While the state flag of the Republic of Serbia was raised, the Guard-Representative Orchestra played the national anthem, “Bože pravde” (God of Justice). The artillery gun salute was attended by Milomir Todorović, Major General, the Guard Commander.

The World War I Armistice Day has been celebrated as a national holiday in Serbia since 2012, in memory of November 11, 1918, when the Allied Forces and Germany signed an armistice agreement and ended World War I.
