The Fencing Federation of Belgrade and the Fencing Federation of Serbia, in cooperation with PE Belgrade Fortress, have prepared a unique sports event for all visitors to the Belgrade Fortress who wish to familiarize themselves with the secrets of fencing.

On 18 September 2021 (Saturday), from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Serbian swordsmen will cross their weapons on the plateau in front of the Pobednik monument.

The event entitled Get to Know Fencing was organized as part of the European Heritage Days 2021 and aimed to present this noble, chivalrous, and magnificent sport to fellow citizens and guests of Belgrade, as well as to remind that fencing is one of the oldest sports and one of the five sports at the first modern Olympic Games. Also, the first organized sports school in Belgrade, at the beginning of the 19th century, was – in fact – a school of fencing.

What does live fencing fight look like, what types of weapons exist in sports fencing, as well as other interesting facts about this sport, will be presented to visitors, who will be able to meet and socialize with the youngest fencing champions.
