The White Cane Safety Day was celebrated on October 15 in the Kalemegdan Park before the “Blind Gusle Player” monument. This day is traditionally dedicated to blind and visually impaired persons all over the world. On this occasion, the “Touch of Belgrade” project of the Association of Blind and Visually Impaired Persons and other social groups, such as “View by Heart”, was presented.
The “Touch of Belgrade” project aims at raising awareness about the people’s cultural heritage and letting all those willing to sense the experience of blind and visually impaired people have this opportunity by making an organized hiking tour.
The event and tour ensuing after the official presentation was attended by Goran Vesić, Belgrade Deputy Mayor, Nataša Stanisavljević, City Secretary for Social Welfare, Boban Veličković, President of the “View by Heart” Association, and Marija Kuprešanin, PUC “Belgrade Fortress” Director.
This event officially closed the 2021 European Heritage Days.
