NATIONAL NATURE CONSERVATION DAY

Blog

Today we celebrate the Nature Conservation Day in Serbia, which was established back in 2009 by means of the Law on Nature Conservation so that the public could get familiar with the significance of preservation of cultural heritage.
Based on the conservation study of the Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia, the Government of the Republic of Serbia announced “Cape Kalemegdan” in Belgrade to be the Nature Monument; this monument is located south of the Sava-Danube confluence, at the area of the City of Belgrade, between the Upper and Lower Town of the Belgrade Fortress. The boundaries of the nature monument include a unique natural geological rarity on the Serbian soil – a cross-section of sea drift from the oldest stage of history of once existent Pannonian Sea.
The “Cape Kalemegdan” nature monument was entrusted to the management of Public Enterprise “Belgrade Fortress”.
