On November 29, 2021, during the night, graffiti were written on the Tomb of National Heroes. PE “Belgrade Fortress” reacted quickly and, in collaboration with other city departments, the graffiti were removed in the afternoon, so the monument’s original appearance was shortly recovered.

We would like to note that the City Assembly of Belgrade issued the Decision in 1983 whereby the Tomb of National Heroes was announced a Monument of Culture; this is why these acts of vandalism are so reprehensible. PE “Belgrade Fortress” is doing everything in its power to keep the memory of the long and tumultuous history of our city, which is the responsibility of all of us; we therefore urge all visitors not to desecrate the monuments of culture or destroy the cultural heritage of the Belgrade Fortress and City of Belgrade.

PE “Belgrade Fortress” will implement a CCTV system as an additional step towards the protection of the cultural and historical property in the territory of the Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan Park.

In 2021 the enterprise actively worked on the implementation of CCTV installation project funded from the budget of the City of Belgrade. The competent ministry provided its approval for the work execution and relevant tender process was conducted. Bearing in mind the complexity of the project, the enterprise was also bound to compose appropriate acts. The supplier selection tender was successfully finalized and the contract with the contractor was signed. The project implementation was planned for this year, in accordance with the determined funds established within the enterprise’s 2021 program.
