Free Entrance to the Belgrade Fortress Sites

On World Tourism Day, traditionally marked on 27 September, the entrance to four sites at the Belgrade Fortress will be free of charge. Visitors will be able to visit the Roman Well, the Nebojša Tower, the Military Bunker and the Big Gunpowder Warehouse on Monday and Tuesday (27 and 28 September 2021), from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Roman Well was built in the period from 1717 to 1739, during the Austrian Baroque reconstruction of the Belgrade Fortress. The well is sixty meters deep and almost three and a half meters wide.

The Nebojša Tower, built in the 15th century for defensive purposes, became the most famous dungeon and ominous symbol of Belgrade during Ottoman rule. Since 2011, it has been a modern exhibition space in which, with the help of audio-visual effects, visitors can get acquainted with a part of Serbian and Greek history.

The Military Bunker in the Upper Town was built in the 1950s when hundreds of cannon, machine gun, and other types of bunkers were built.

In the Big Gunpowder Warehouse, there is an exhibition of Roman stone monuments from the period from the 1st to the 4th century, found predominantly in Belgrade and its surroundings. These monuments are part of the collection of the National Museum in Belgrade.

We remind visitors that due to the epidemiological situation; masks are mandatory in all closed facilities and that PE Belgrade Fortress will strictly adhere to and apply all current decisions, measures and recommendations of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and competent authorities to combat and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
