Nature is rich in forms that we constantly perceive and communicate with, forms which we use daily. From the abundance of the forms, the artist is mostly inspired by a form of a bird and its symbolism. Particularly fascinating is its the freedom, the domination of the space and the ability of unfettered movement. The artist transposes the form of a bird into a sculpture by reducing it to geometric figures, using usual sculptural materials – metal and terracotta.

Ivana Samardžić was born in 1976 in Novi Sad. She graduated in 2003 from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Department of Sculpture in the class of Professor Tomislav Todorović, where she got her master degree in 2010 as well. She has been a member of SULUV and ULUS. She has also participated in several group exhibitions.
