PE “Belgrade Fortress” is pleased to inform you that extensive conservation and restoration works on the renovation of the southeastern ramparts and the complex of the Clock and Baroque Gate have been successfully completed. According to the project of the PE “Belgrade Fortress”, inside the gates themselves, the premises of the former Gallery of the Belgrade Fortress have been restored and expanded, which will become a Visitor Center. 53 million dinars (excluding VAT) were invested in the works.
The presentation of the completed works was attended by Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić, Deputy President of the City Assembly Andrea Radulović, City Secretary for Culture Ivan Karl, Stari Grad Municipality President Radoslav Marjanović, Director of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia Mirjana Andrić and Director of the Belgrade City Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Oliver Vuckovic.
“Of all the works that were planned this year in the area of the Belgrade Fortress, the renovation of the Clock and the Baroque Gate required the most complex works. I am proud of everything that has been done in the previous period. I would like to thank the designers, contractors, employees of the PE “Belgrade Fortress” and the City of Belgrade who set aside funds and recognized the importance of the renovation of the Clock and Baroque Gate complex,” said the PE “Belgrade Fortress” Director Marija Reljić.
Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić pointed out that he is proud that nothing has ever been done at the Belgrade Fortress as in the last few years, and that it will be the same in the future, because the preservation of the Belgrade Fortress is the preservation of our culture and history.
With the restoration of this part of the Belgrade Fortress, another building, eighth in a row, was obtained that visitors will now be able to tour. The Visitor Center will be opened at the beginning of next year, when the epidemiological conditions in the country allow it and when the new season at the Belgrade Fortress begins. We will welcome the visitors with an exhibition within which the performed works on the renovation will be presented, as well as the history of this complex.
