Belgrade Fortress is Virtually Accessible to the Whole World
A virtual walk through the Belgrade Fortress
(Belgrade, February 10, 2021) A 3D virtual tour has been set up on the redesigned website of the Belgrade Fortress, so that all users of computers and smartphones can now click on https://beogradskatvrdjava.co.rs/virtual-tour/ and embark on a tour of the cultural and historical sights of the Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan Park. Having in mind the needs of modern world trends, and wanting to make its exceptional contents available to all interested people in the world and in our country, Belgrade Fortress realized the project of digitalization and multimedia presentation of the most important cultural monuments, with the support of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
The virtual tour is adapted to all devices and browsers, and the contents are, in addition to Serbian, available in five world languages: English, German, Russian, Turkish and Chinese. Remote visitors will now be able to enjoy the cultural and historical heritage of inestimable importance, and visitors who walk through the Belgrade Fortress will be able to get acquainted with details that they would not notice on their own or information that they did not know. Thanks to this innovation, fans of the Belgrade Fortress will not need too much time, so in less than two hours they can visit almost 60 hectares and experience the most beautiful sights in a virtual tour of the Belgrade Fortress and the beautiful Kalemegdan Park.
The development of the entire project was entrusted to the company Go2Tech d.o.o. from Belgrade.
At the press conference held on February 10, 2021, the project was presented by Vesna Vlatković, Belgrade Fortress independent media associate and Goran Gajić, the implementer of the project.
“Belgrade Fortress has a special place in the hearts of its fellow citizens and represents a significant potential for promoting the tourist offer of Serbia, and millions of foreign visitors get acquainted with its cultural and historical sights and natural beauties of Kalemegdan Park every year. We have recognized new technologies as an ally that enables everything exceptional that exists at the Belgrade Fortress to be now easily and simply accessible to all who have the desire, and for whatever reason did not have the opportunity to visit it directly. People who are dislocated or people with disabilities, as well as everyone who simply wants to visit the Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan from an armchair at any given moment, will surely enjoy our virtual tour. And for sure, in this way, the number of visitors and the visibility of Belgrade, i.e. Serbia on the tourist map of the world, will significantly increase,” said Vesna Vlatković, Belgrade Fortress independent media associate.
In his address, Goran Gajić, owner of Go2Tech d.o.o. from Belgrade emphasized:
“PE Belgrade Fortress successfully realized the project of digitalization and promotion of cultural monuments and in a modern way and through information technologies made a virtual walk through the Belgrade Fortress with a story about 35 cultural monuments. The contents are available in VR format on mobile platforms and we have specially made a total of 6 films in VR technology for the most significant monuments. We mapped all the objects on the fortress via Google coordinates and presented them in all languages, we also activated maps for online and offline use. In this way, we have made the monuments easier to access in case of a direct visit to the Belgrade Fortress.”
