BLIND GUSLE PLAYER

Blog

The “Blind Gusle Player” sculpture by sculptor Paskija Paško Vučetić is the only preserved element of the Karađorđe Monument composition in the Kalemegdan Park made on August 13, 1913, which was demolished in 1916 by the Austro-Hungarian occupation forces, who intended to place the monument of their own ruler, Franz Joseph, in this very place. In 1930, after World War I ended, the Monument of Gratitude to France was erected in the very place of the disassembled Karađorđe Monument.

The ”Blind Gusle Player” sculpture was returned to the Kalemegdan Park in November 2020 and is now located next to the Monument of Gratitude to France.
