NEW MULTIMEDIA CONTENT AT THE BELGRADE FORTRESS

Blog

The Belgrade Fortress got some new and extremely significant multimedia content in terms of interpretation of the cultural heritage with use of contemporary digital technology and easier access to this content for the public in an interesting and direct way.

Within the new space of the Visitor Center, which was renovated in the Baroque Gate area, there are permanently displayed models of the Belgrade Fortress modeled in 3D technology. Owing to the application of new technologies, the visitors will be able to see the appearance of the Belgrade Fortress in three relevant historical periods. One represents the medieval Serbian fortress, followed by the period of Turkish reign and finally the large Austrian reconstruction – Baroque Belgrade in the period of Austrian rule.

The models can be viewed on an interactive panel and the content is multimedia and multilingual. Each of the above periods contains a description of historical circumstances through the display of texts and audio content, as well as description of the most significant buildings that were built back then.

The interactive panel is available for all the visitors and, apart from Serbian, all the content was translated into 5 foreign languages.

We believe that the visitors’ attention will be drawn by the new documentary film that is permanently played in one of the rooms in the Roman Well. This cultural monument, which has always been the center of visitors’ interest at the Belgrade Fortress, now directly depicts the appearance of the well and displays the descending into its depths and walk along the corridors. By playing this short 3-minute film we also reveal the main historical facts to our visitors.

The overall project titled “Promotion and Modernization of the Operations by Establishing High Quality Digital Infrastructure and Tourist Signals Through New Creative Technological Solutions for the Cultural and Historical Monuments in the Belgrade Fortress Area” was funded by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications in 2021, and the multimedia content was made by GO2TECH, a company from Belgrade with huge experience in digital content production.

The project was presented by Vesna Vlatković, information associate of the Belgrade Fortress, and Goran Gajić, project implementer, at the press conference held on April 20, 2022.
