DUNAV FEST AT THE NEBOJSA TOWER

The Dunav Fest will take place on September 28th and 29th at the Nebojsa Tower, starting at 6 p.m. This is the first event to be held in Serbia to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Greek independence revolution (1821-1830) and to pay special tribute to the late great Greek national and composer, Mikis Theodorakis.

The names of Regas Feraios, the Greek revolutionary and seven of his comrades who were imprisoned and executed in this tower by the Turks, are engraved on the Nebojsa Tower, while the reproductions of Rigas Feraios Charter are displayed on the walls.

The programme of the event will include the drama “The Last Journey of Riga Feraios”, a tribute to the late Greek conductor Mikis Theodorakis and the official presentation of the book by the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Greece, Mr. Dusan Spasojevic, entitled: “Greece: War for Independence, State Formation and Regeneration of the Nation”.

The Dunav Fest programme was designed by Nebojsa Bradic, director and writer. The program will feature actors: Tihomir Stanic, Pavle Pekic and Marko Grabez, singer Svetlana Spajic, who will perform Greek Marseillaise and songs by Mikis Theodorakis, the National Dance Foundation, the columnist Peca Popovic who will speak about Mikis Theodorakis, and Serbian historians Milan Ristovic and Mile Bjelajac, as well as the journalist Bosko Jaksic.
