The Festival of European Student Animation (FESA) will take place at Belgrade’s Kalemegdan from August 29-31.

The theme of this year’s contest is “Symbols”. The festival received 52 student entries from eight European countries (Hungary, Slovenia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Croatia and Serbia).

The selection jury chose 28 movies for two thematic units.

Besides the best animated movie award, the special jury award will be granted, as well as diplomas for each of the categories.

The festival’s Art Director is Rasto Ciric, a professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts, and the event has been backed by the Serbian Ministry of Culture and Information.

The aims are to promote the art of animation of European countries, international cooperation and exchange of experiences, and create conditions for young generations to find new concepts and techniques, the organizers said in a release.
