Language and Literacy was the topic of this year’s cultural and tourist event – European Heritage Days, due in Belgrade from 20 to 30 September 2014, marked within the large-scale event organized by the Council of Europe and the European Commission.

Program at Belgrade Fortress:

1. Old crafts workshop in the Inner Stambol Gate was opened for two weekends. Visitors were able to see the medieval objects and tools, and an exhibition of medieval costumes used in the film ” IronClad 2″ , which was filmed at the Belgrade fortress.

2. On Saturday , September 20th, was a presentation of calligraphic writing, and next Saturday visitors were able to learn the technique of knitting peasant shoe.

3. For younger visitors, the Public Enterprise “Belgrade Fortress” and the Centre for Theatre Research APS ART , organized a workshop based on the principles of “applied theater “, through which children rehearse answers to real-life situations and , through teamwork, finding the best solutions . Also, the youngsters enjoyed the “Mobile planetarium” program that “Belgrade Fortress” realized in collaboration with the Astronomical Society ” Rudjer Boskovic” .

4. Entrance to the facilities at the Belgrade Fortress ( Roman well , Nebojsa Tower , the Great bautni warehouse and Clock Tower ) was free on Wednesday , 24 September 2014.
