Days of Belgrade 2014.

Every year, from April 16 to 19 Belgrade celebrates its birthday and Belgradians and all city visitors enjoy in a number of various events during “The Days of Belgrade”.

This manifestation relates to two important dates – first is April 16, 878 A.D. when Slavic name Beograd was first mentioned in a letter from Pope John VIII to the Bulgarian Prince Boris and second one is April 19, 1867 when Turkish commander Ali Riza pasha symbolically handed over keys of the city to Prince Mihailo.

Days of Belgrade is city’s biggest and the most important celebration, which includes a wide range of cultural, educational, sports and other manifestations, free walking tours, concerts, etc.

This year as well, several events have been organized by the PE `Belgrade Fortress:

Thursday, April 17

12.00 – Big Powder Magacine
Book promotion and exibition “Ogres & Bugies”

Promotion of the third edition of the book “Ogres & Bogies” by Aleksandar Palavestra (alias A. Peragrash) and exhibition by Rastko Ciric present strange creatures from the Serbian mythology.
The entrance is free.

15.00 – Sava Promenade, Park Kalemegdan
Еxhibition “Gazed Into The Sky”

Open-air exibition presents the events related to the Allied bombing of Belgrade in 1944, through the testimony of a writer and Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andric.

18.00 – Belgrade Fortress Gallery, Inner Stambol Gate
Exibition of drawings – Branko Rakovic

The entrance to the Belgrade Fortress Gallery is free.
Opening hours: 11.00am to 07.00pm
