PE ‘Belgrade Fortress’ publications

This Publication works at 29 fortifications, selected on the stage of preservation and historical significance. It contains basic information of geographic location, history and architecture of the fortifications, as well as the conservation and restoration works carried out so far. Published in 2008, by Association of Fortress and Remnants of Fortified Towns in Serbia, with the purpose of popularizing and introducing these cultural monuments to the public. Available in Serbian and in English language.

The monograph Belgrade Fortress was published for the first time by the Institute of Archeology in 1982. The revised edition of Monography is financed by PE ‘Belgrade Fortress’ in 2006. The complete portrayal of Belgrade Fortress’ history from the ancient times till 20th century is updated with new literature and knowledge gained during the period from 1982 till today, especially in the field of Roman military camp and new knowledge about the city gates. A summary in English is also included in Monograph.
Monograph Belgrade Fortress can be bought in Belgrade Fortress Gallery, and in the bookshops ‘Narodna knjiga’ and ‘Inicijal’ as well.

Belgrade Fortress and Town Field illustrated guide was designed in 2004 as a very detailed panoramic plan of Belgrade Fortress which contains three segments: the linear drawing of Belgrade Fortress, whole structure of Belgrade Fortress encompassing elements of infrastructure, transportation, together with the catering, commercial and recreation contents and a short text about historical development of Belgrade Fortress.
Belgrade Fortress and Town Field illustrated guide and poster are also published in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian and Greek and are sold in Belgrade Fortress Gallery in the Inner Stambol gate - price: 250,00 dinars.

ImageEdition – Fortresses and the remains of fort cities
This edition is a part of promotional activities of PE “Belgrade Fortress” (Association of Fortresses and remains of fort cities). Twenty-nine forts, chosen on the level of preservation and the historical significance, will be issued in single publications. The publications contain the basic information on geographical location of the fortress, historical and cultural data, as well as the chapters about future restoration plans. These bilingual publications (English and Serbian) try to describe, apart from historical and cultural context, the tourist potential of the site and its surroundings.
The publications about following fortresses have been issued:
Zvecan – September 2007, Belgrade – April 2008, Smederevo – April 2008, Golubac – April 2008, Prokuplje – April 2008, Krusevac – April 2008, Koznik – April 2008, Maglic - July 2008, Bac - September 2008, Fetislam near Kladovo - January 2009, Stalac - January 2009.

The map of Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress, with marked facilities and a text about the historical development of Belgrade Fortress, was published in 2005. It is designed to help the tourists orientate themselves easily.
The map is also published in English and is sold in Belgrade Fortress Gallery.
